EXPLORER POST 240
WHO WE ARE: Germantown Volunteer Fire Dept. Explorer Post 240
ESTABLISHED: The Explorer post was created by the Germantown Fire Department in February of 2002 and officially chartered in March 2002. Membership is limited to 10 for training reasons as well as equipment limitations. There are six Advisors that help to supervise the actions of the Explorer Post, as well as, the Fire Chief and the entire GFD.
GOAL: Exposing young adults ages 14-21 to the world of fire / rescue while instilling the values of public service and a sense of pride in our community and our country.

TRAINING: We regularly train on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.. Training includes hands-on and classroom instruction on subjects such as SCBA's, HAZMAT Awareness, Rope Rescue, Ambulance EMS Ride-Along…etc. Post 240 also participates with the regular department members during their scheduled training days when possible.
MEETINGS: One of the goals of Exploring is to educate and train explorers to function as an individual organization within the GFD structure. Explorers will hold monthly business meetings, manage finances, and work in conjunction with the GFD. Monthly meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd Monday of the month.
